Russian poet, play writer and prose writer, creator of the modern Russian literary language (1799-1837).

Alexander Pushkin is the greatest national poet, who embodied the achievements of the preceding national and world literature. He signified with his creative work the higher level of the further development of literature.

Pushkin saw his mission as a poet in establishment of freedom, in the defense of powerless people as well as in nationality. The poet considered the purpose of literature as cultural and moral education of a person. A. Pushkin took as an ideal a person who wants to own everything positive and overcome everything negative in the experience of mankind throughout the history. According to Pushkin, the contradictions of real life is balanced by an awareness of the greatness and nobility of a person as the only creator of history.

Like all enlighteners, Pushkin believed in the power of intelligence and its victory over darkness, thus his faith was based on a deep analysis of his time. Pushkin was a true patriot of his homeland. He was proud of the majestic character of his nation and the glorious history of the Fatherland, reminded of the world-historic mission of the Russian people.
