NICOLAUS COPERNICUS -polish astronomer, mathematician, mechanic, economist, canonic of the Renaissance; best known as the author of the heliocentric system of the world, which initiated the first scientific revolution. Years of life 1473-1543.
Nicolaus Copernicus is known as a statesman, a skilled doctor and an expert in astronomy. He made a revolution in natural science, abandoning the teaching on the central position of the Earth, which was adopted for many centuries before. He explained the visible movements of the celestial bodies by the rotation of the Earth around the axis and the circulation of the planets around the Sun.
