The sculpture is dedicated to the Madonna, who works tirelessly, saving lost souls from the flames of hell. It symbolizes boundless mercy, patience, forgiveness and divine help. The Mother of God lowers her veil, like a bridge, into hell, so that sinners who seek salvation can rise from darkness to Light.

There is such a touching legend in Christianity:

Once the Apostle Peter, who is responsible for the entrance to paradise, holds the keys to it, became worried.
He says to the Lord: “All day long I guard the Gate. I do not let anyone in. And in the morning – new people in paradise.”
And the Lord said: “Let’s go, Peter, as a night watchman.”
They went at night and saw: the Most Holy Mother of God lowered her snow-white scarf over the wall of paradise and receives some souls through it.

Peter was jealous and wanted to intervene, but the Lord whispered: “Quiet! Don’t disturb!”.

The sculpture was created under the impression of M.K. Roerich’s painting “Madonna Laboris (The Labors of the Madonna)” 1933.
