RUMI

1207-1273

Outstanding Persian Sufi Poet.

The main place in the works of Rumi belongs to the idea of a man as a rational spirit, whose goal is to overcome the lower, animal, nature and ascend to the next, “angelic” level. Earthly life itself is viewed by him as a way of teaching human souls the Highest Truth. Moreover, our whole world is the “madrasa” (school); the time allotted to the lesson is human life; teaching aids – all the circumstances of being; exams – the trials and temptations of life. The teacher is the Creator himself.

In his work Rumi attached great importance to the issues of science and knowledge, patriotism, hard work, humanism. Rumi illustrates his complex theoretical positions with parables, fables. His views are based on sincere humanism, ideas of tolerance, friendship of nations, unity of religious law and faith.

WORKS “Masnavi”, “Gazelle in the Donkey Stable”, “Poems of Transformation”.
