Oleksiy Leonov – Honored Artist of Ukraine, artist of multifaceted talents, sculptor-intuitive and cosmologist, admirer of truth. An artist who embodies the images of the spiritual world in material form. An active master of modern art, he works mainly in the field of monumental and easel sculpture. A bold innovator in art, he perfectly knows the laws of the academic school.
The work of the sculptor is multifaceted and large-scale. Studying world philosophy, the foundations of religions, science, the sculptor in his works opens a special world of wisdom and perfection to the viewer. Themes of spiritual searches based on the example of the founders of religions and philosophers, leading scientists, pioneers and inventors are the main ones. As a deep, thoughtful portrait artist, the sculptor strives to convey the uniqueness and peculiarities of the character of each person.
A separate theme of the artist’s work is female beauty as a manifestation of cosmic creative energy, children’s images as a symbol of openness and purity. The sculptor’s works are distinguished by a high culture of sculpting, lightness, the presence of the living fire of the Spirit, and the desire for freedom.
Oleksiy Leonov’s creativity is a special kind of art. It is a symbol of a new time in which the spiritual, intuitive world is dominant.
Milestones of life
1982 – born in the city of Sumy.
1988 – studying at the Kyiv Children’s Isostudio.
1993 – became a student of the State Art Secondary School named after T. G. Shevchenko (Kyiv).
1999 – entered the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture, Faculty of Sculpture.
2008 – defended his post-graduate work in the workshop of Academician V.Z. Bearded
2008 – accepted as a member of the Union of Artists of Ukraine.
2024 – the award was presented and the honorary title “Honored Artist of Ukraine” was awarded.
Achievement
more than 200 personal exhibitions were held in the period from 2005 to 2024 in various cities of Ukraine, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, and the Czech Republic.
There are works of the sculptor in more than 80 cities of the world: San Francisco, New York, Washington, London, Rome, Vatican, Porto, Prague, Budapest, Naarden, Bilbao, Baku, Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkatta, Naggar, etc.
More than 50 author’s monuments have been installed in various cities of the world on all continents of the Earth, in particular, some of them:
2012, India, Kolkatta, 2016, Italy, Rome, – a monument to Mother Teresa.
2014, India, Chennai, – bust of O.P. Blavatsky
2017, Azerbaijan, Baku, A. Nobel monument.
2018, USA, San Francisco, – a monument to St. John of Shanghai and the San Francisco Miracle Worker.
2024, Ukraine, Khmelnytskyi, – the monument “Miracle of the Intercession of the Holy Mother of God”.
