An ancient legend describes the righteous life of the widow Sophia, who deeply believed in Christ, and her children – three daughters Faith, Hope and Love. Emperor Hadrian, who ruled Rome in the 2nd century and was an ardent fan of the cult of the goddess Artemis, having learned that someone did not share his views, ordered the mother and the girls to be brought to him. After he failed to persuade the humble widow’s family to renounce Christ, the emperor decided to take harsh measures, trying to persuade the family to renounce Christ through torture and torments. But the mother and her daughters were sincerely devoted to their faith, for which they paid with their lives. Commemoration of the feat of St. Faith, Hope, Love and Mother Sophia lives in the hearts of people to this day and we believe that it will live forever!
