On May 14,  1314  the great founder of Russian spiritual culture, the ascetic-unifier of the Russian land, St. Sergei of Radonezh was born.
The spiritual culture of Russia as a whole is based on the teachings of St. Sergius of Radonezh. “Life in Christ” of St. Sergius became an example of spiritual life with high moral ideals. The idea of “high living” consists in cleansing, fostering in oneself sincere love, humility, in striving to achieve unity with others, in realizing the transience and frailty of earthly glory and the eternity of supermundane blessings.
