“One does not follow it than smell roses…
Another of the bitter herbs will produce honey,
Give bread to one – will remember for ever.
Donate another life – do not understand”.
OMAR KHAYYAM – persian poet, philosopher, mathematician, astronomer, astrologer (1048-1123).
Work of Omar Khayyam penetrates deeply into the world of human feelings, filled with philosophical thoughts about the meaning of life and freedom. The poet constantly repeats the idea that only reality is earthly life, only it needs to be cherished, the loss of this “real” life will not bring paradise, but only non-existence and oblivion.
Creative work of Omar Khayyam is one of the most wonderful phenomenon in the history of culture of the peoples of Middle Asia, Iran and whole mankind. During his lifetime Omar Khayyam was known only as the outstanding scientist. He made contribution on algebra by constructing a classification of cubic equations and their solutions using conic sections. In Iran, Omar Khayyam is well known for creating the most accurate calendar. If his works have brought great benefits in the development of sciences, his remarkable quatrains still fascinate the readers with their extreme capacity, brevity, simplicity and deep meaning.
