АKBAR – one of the greatest rulers of the 16th century, sage and generous patron of poets, 1542 – 1605.

Jalal-ud-din was a great unifier of India, who showed a keen interest in all religions, recognized and honored the single source of all beliefs – the truth. In the time of troubles, Jalal-ud-din preached the idea of the unity of all peoples and ethnic groups of India. It was not by chance that during the life of Jalal-ud-din, the people began to call him “Akbar”, means in Arabic “The greatest”.

Akbar laid the statehood foundations of the Indian people. He implemented a number of major state and religious reforms. The goal of transformation was to create a centralized state on the basis of a fair and equal attitude towards all the peoples inhabiting it. Throughout the empire, a unified system of weights and measures, a single solar calendar, was introduced. Akbar significantly expanded the borders of the state.

Akbar became famous as the patron of science and art, gathering around his throne the best scientists, poets, musicians and artists. During the reign of Akbar, a school of painting was created, a rich library was assembled, reckoning more than 24 thousand books.
