Classical author of the French literature, one of the founders of mathematical analysis, projective geometry, the author of the basic law of hydrostatics, religious philosopher.

The main work – “Pensées” (1669) is a collection of the found works, aphorisms, representing sketches for the unfinished polemical work “The Apology of the Christian Religion”.

.Pascal was one of the greatest scientists of the 17th century. He was the creator of the first calculating machine, the researcher of the theory of probability, the author of the treatises on vacuum and equilibrium of liquids. Pascal perfected the barometer, invented a “new machine” to increase human strength “to the desired degree” – a hydraulic press. Disillusioned with exact sciences Pascal turned to religious issues and philosophy.
