On November 21, in the Vinnitsa Regional Museum of Local Lore, the grand opening of the exhibition of sculptures by the Ukrainian sculptor, member of the National Union of Artists Alexei Leonov, took place.
The exhibition was made possible thanks to the initiative of the All-Ukrainian Cultural and Educational Association of Humane Pedagogy, Vinnitsa Cultural and Educational Society named after E.I. and N.K. Roerichs, Podolsk Cultural and Educational Center. N.K. Roerich, Vinnitsa State Pedagogical University. M. Kotsyubynska, Vinnitsa Regional Museum of Local Lore. The organization of the cultural event was supported by the Vinnitsa city administration.
Representatives of the Department of Culture of the Vinnitsa City Council, the Vinnitsa Regional Administration, the Center for Social Services for Family, Children and Youth, Vinnitsa State Pedagogical University named after A. Leonov participated in the opening of the exhibition of A. Leonov’s works of art. M. Kotsyubinsky, public organizations of Vinnitsa and Khmelnitsky. The author of the site, Alexei Leonov, pleased the Vinnitsa residents with his presence. He noted that the day of November 21 is a landmark in his work. Exactly seven years ago, on the day of the Holy Archangel Michael, on November 21, 2005, the first exhibition of his creative works was opened in Kiev. Over the next few years, the exhibition of sculptures by A. Leonov traveled to the cities of Ukraine, Russia, India, France, bringing people beauty and inspiration.
According to Alexei Leonov, he discovered Vinnitsa as a European city with many opportunities for spiritual, cultural and economic development. The sculptor is sure that in general Ukraine has enormous spiritual potential. Art makes it possible to unleash this potential, uniting the hearts of people in cooperation in the name of good, radiating light and beauty into the surrounding world. It is very important for all people to learn to do good.
Alexei Leonov conducted a tour, introducing the Vinnitsa residents with the ideas of his creative work. According to the author’s story, one of his sculptures is dedicated to the founder of Ukrainian sculptural art Vasyl Boroday, from whom he was lucky to learn. Vasily Borodai instilled in Leonov a love of his native land, discovered the simple truth that before you study world culture, you must first know and love the culture of your people. Similar themes of the sculptor are harmony and perfection of the spirit, knowledge of the meaning of life, the relationship of male and female Principles, images of great people, ascetics of the spirit of different eras and peoples.
Guests present at the exhibition noted that Leonov’s sculptures radiate heat, light, positive energy, inspire and fill with joy. The organizers and visitors of the event expressed heartfelt gratitude to the author and sincere admiration for his talent, wished to continue to work for the glory of Ukraine and enrich the world treasury of culture.
The grand opening of the exhibition ended with the performance of the Vinnitsa Academic Chamber Choir under the direction of Honored Artist of Ukraine, Artistic Director and Conductor Vitaliy Gazinsky.
The exhibition of sculptures by A. Leonov is open daily at the Vinnitsa Regional Museum of Local Lore from 10.00 to 18.00 (except Monday) and runs until December 18.
